Maybe this has been discussed before but I'll ask anyway. Has anyone purchased the sheepskins from Alaskaleather.com and how do you like them? I'm thinking of getting them for both seats. By the time I get the seats on my bike half-a$$ed comfortable for long trips, I'll have spent enough to purchase a set of Russels or Ultimates. :(" title="" border="0"/>

i have puchased three of them and they are very high quality.
they help improve comfort but nothing like a good aftermarket seat.be sure to purchase the optional attachment strap that does not strech.the standard strechy one will eventally stretch itself out of shape.

We have used a sheep skin for about a year now don't know that it's more comfortable it does keep the seat cool so when you sit down you don't get that sizzle feeling.

If you're looking at a whole skin and not just a seat cover, sheepskin.com has better pricing. Alaska Leather want $125 for a long haired skin and sheepskin.com wants $69 with free shipping.
http://www.sheepskin.com/viewItem.as...20Rug&Search=N I bought my full skin from sheepskin and it is also very high quality and is available in several colors. HINT: Sew a Airhawk to the back side of it, ends up helping loads. |

I have the front section sewn to an Airhawk seat cushion and use the Airhawk straps to bungy it down to my top bag rails. The backrest also holds it down very well in the front.
I thought I could get away with just tucking the back in but it just flapped in the breeze. I found some really thin bungy cords, about 3/16 diameter to hold the back down and just hide the cord in the long fur. My wife hasn't complained about sitting on it so it must not bother her and she doesn't have a lot of extra padding. |

I don't have back rests, but toss the hide on and have a couple leather shoe laces to tie off the back. I can pull it off fast, and roll it up of there is rain, and or place it fuzzy side down.
The one I have now dates back to about 1999. The one from before that died, sheep don't have the best lasting skin in the first place, but they are handy enough. I like cold weather hides best, but mine were labled Iceland. Being mine are held down by me pretty much, I can bunch the hide up anyway I want while I ride, which relives hot spots fast. My wife and I are happy on stock seats too, so I never really understand why not many others are too... The oem seat seems to break in if you ask me.. On the other hand i don't have any rear end padding much, just a couple old bones stickin out like a 1/2 starved cow.

We have been riding on sheepskin for years. The new full one I had at Custer cost $40 at Costco in June before we left. More comfort, big improvement in the hot and cold departments.

You can also buy the alaska sheep skins with gel pad already in them or just skins alone for those that are wondering.
