White WW in a 180/70-16 rear
Looking everywhere for a wide white wall in 180/70HR-16 Rear or 170/70-16 Rear
Anybody know of a company that makes a wide whitewall in either of these sizes? I've looked everywhere. My front 130 isnt a problem and I dont want to have just one with a WWW. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Join the club, I've been looking, too. Ringadingh out of Canada runs Metzler 880's in the wide whitewall. Not sure what size he put on the back, though.

White WW in a 180/70-16 rear
Ringading has a 1500 and I belive that the 150/80/16 is the stock size for the rear, and the 1600 has a 170/70/16. I have a 2006 1600 and I put me88os on mine WWW. both the front and back 150/80/16 and it works great. I havent found any other www ties that I liked as well as the me880.

Thanks for the info guys. I kind of wondered if running the same size front and back was going to be the only solution.
Did you feel there was any difference in your engine RPMs, or handling when you changed tire sizes in the rear, spirello? Login or Register to Remove Ads |

billz410 No there is no change in rpm and it haldles great. I ran it with a gps and the speedo was about 4mph fast but Im pretty sure it was about that far off with the stock size tire as well. The 150/80/16 is a narrower tire but its alittle taller than the stock at 170/70/16.

OK. I sure like the look of the 170/70 on the back. But I can't really admire the rear tire while riding down the road. Not for very long anyways. Come to think of it, I can't really admire the white walls while riding either, so what the *(&$@#????
Still think it looks really sharp. Once again, another question answered by the fine members of KawaNOW. |

I'll probably be replacing my tires later this season, I doubt that I will use Metzellers again in the near future. My bike has a wobble in it that got much worse after replacing the old ME880 with a new one. Whitewall choices are very limited for us Nomad riders. I think Im going to go with Dunlop Cruisemax series this time, mainly because I can get a set at a very reasonable price from a guy that has them in his basement, after selling his Nomad. I would considor installing a car tire on the rear, but it would have to be a whitewall, and thats hard to find on both sidewalls.

I've thought about the car-tire route also...would look kind of funny to just have the wide whitewall on one side. Sometimes a guy pays a premium to have things 'look' a certain way, I guess.
Seems like a number of folks have been very happy with Metzlers; unfortunate you're having issues. |

Shinko 777 comes in a 180/65/16 and the front can be swapped for a 130/90. With the rim width, overall dimensions stay relatively similar.

I just ordered a new front WWW Shinko tire, everything I read about them seemed ok, so I'll give them a try. I"m hoping its here by tomorrow so I can get it installed this weekend.
It was almost half price compared to the Dunlop D404's Ive been using. $125.00 shipped.

I too am a big fan of www's. The odd ball size of our tires though had me so frustrated that I gave up a puchased black wall, so I'll be monitoring this thread also. I was turned on to a company called TredWearLetters that I am seriously contemplating as I also love raised white letters. Just not sure about then on nomad a letters are a sportier notion than ww's. If I go with them soon I will post and share pics.

I gotta have the WWW Tires...And the 150/80/16's are about as big as Iv been able to find
However AGAIN I Must Warn My Fellow Riders... Be EXTREMELY WARY, of the METZLER -REAR, ME 880 WWW 150/80/16..made in Brazil...(it's hard to locate the tiny stamp on the tire that indicates "made in brazil") photo's attached...these tires run about 5-7,000 mile then shuck the entire tread off the caseing ! I still run the -front Metzler- (made in brazil)..and have had no unusual problems with -them ! |
