Love my new Nomad. But man, it is too quiet. Dont want a loud bike but i want to hear it. I saw somwhere something about removing a silencer? Is that the baffle? Has anyone on here done that? Will it affect my warrenty? Login or Register to Remove Ads |

No - Silencers are different from baffles. Go to BlownDodges Garage and look up the thread. Everything you need to know is there. It's and EZ mod and worthy. Congrats on the scoot!

The silencer is not the baffle. Many here have done what is referred to as the baffelectomy in order to get more sound. If you look in the garage, I think there's a how-to and a discussion on the warranty.
Valdez, you answered as I was typing. LOL

Welcome Kawbuc, from the Indiana. Lots of threads on this topic. Have a field day. Remember 1-1/4 hole saw.

Kawbuc, Its easy to make the Nomad rumble. What Valdez said, Blowndodge forum has your answer and explicit instructions.

I agree, look at BDs 'silencer removal' thread. We did it and I like it. Plus, have you priced a set of Vance & Hines Baggers?

After reading the thread in BD's garage, I picked up the hole saw and turned a dowel. Before starting the silencer removal, I brought my Nomad in for the 600 mile first service and asked the service manager if removing the silencers would void my warranty. He stated that if anything went wrong with the bike that required warranty service, the first question Kawasaki would ask is if there were any modifications. When they tell Kawasaki yes and describe the mod to them, Kawasaki could at their own discretion deny coverage. I don't know if this has actually happened to anyone but I'm not going to chance it. He told me to buy V & H or Cobra pipes where ever I'd like and that would positively not affect warranty coverage. Take this for what you think it's worth. If anybody has done the mod and has not been denied warranty coverage please let me know. I've been tempted to contact Kawasaki about it myself to see what they would say.
