Can lower shield be lowered?
It's not in the owners manual. It would be ideal for me if I could lower the lower shield. If I raise the shield all the way up, it's perfect for the top of my head, but the air coming from below is too much. If I lower the upper shield, it's just the opposite. What the hell is that lower shield for and how do you clean between them? If you can lower the bottom shield, it looks like it would be a pain. Just wondering. Jamie

Can lower shield be lowered?
The lower shield is designed to fill the gap when you raise the windshield assembly. You have to loosen the bolts on each side of it, but it has been my experience that the lower shield will be stuck to the rubber gasket between the metal frame and the plexiglass and it won't budge (the gasket isn't slotted, so it isn't supposed to move with the shield). Remove the windshield assembly, lay it on a padded, flat surface, and loosen the bolts. If you're lucky, you may be able to slip a thin piece of plastic, like a credit card between the shield and the rubber gasket to break it free, or you'll have to disassemble the small shield, clean the shield and gasket, reassemble, then adjust it. I like the idea of the small shield, it is a PITA to adjust though.

Jamie, Be sure to clean any grit from between the shields before you slide the lower shield. They will scratch eachother up. Don't ask me how I know this....

Can lower shield be lowered?
Definitely take the thing apart. I never read that part when I first did mine....lets just say all the scratches annoyed me and reminded me of a stupid mistake every time I saw them. My bike was almost brand new, just off the floor when I did it and it still had enough stuff between them to scratch both the windshield and the lower shield.
I am guessing that terrebonne_nomad may have had a similar experience :-/.

Can lower shield be lowered?
The lower shield can be lowered to pretty close to the main lamp, once it is clean. I use a clean rag placed on the main lamp as there must be a slight air gap. Anything that rubs on chrome will eat it.
Are you adjusting the top shield so high there is a air gap between upper and lower shield pieces?

Can lower shield be lowered?
to macmac: I really haven't tried to do anything, yet. Glad I asked about this or I would have scratched the hell out of it, probably. Lot of bugs and stuff get between the two. I'm sorta tall and when I raise it all the way up, I get a lot of air between the uppers and lowers...............
If I decide to, where's a good place to find larger lowers? Thanks fellas. Jamie |

Can lower shield be lowered?
Appreciate it guys. I'd be lost without my Nad family. Went out and did just as you guys said. Wasn't much trouble, just wouldn't want to do it every day. Removed the top and bottom screws on both sides and loosened the middle ones, then I just separated the two shields so I wouldn't scratch them and slid the lower one down. That will probably help but what I will have to do is just order some larger lowers and I'm doing that right now. Thanks. Jamie

Wish I had someone to ask when I did mine.... :)
Glad it worked out for you, no need to repeat our (or at least my) mistakes.

Can lower shield be lowered?
Just received my large lowers that Strobe referred to me and they look great. Put them on tonight and will try them out tomorrow. Should cut down on most of the buffeting with the windshield in the highest position. $58 plus $10 shipping from Edmonds Enterprises. Only took 5 minutes to put on (didn't actually take lower bracket off, just the chrome fronts, two screws each, instructions said take everything off). Jamie
