Jack Adapters
(Nomad newbie here, so please bear with me).
I haven't tried jacking the bike up yet, and maybe the answer will be obvious when I do, but why do I need a jack adapter, and what does it do? Do you have to weld or attach anything to the bike itself? Thanks! Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Jack Adapters
On the 99 to 08 Nomads the crankcase hangs lower down than the frame rails. In order to lift the bike so its stable you have to shim the frame rails a little. Some have used a piece of wood, hockey pucks etc, but the best and safest way is to us Idaho's jack adapter. Idaho is a member here, and sells them.
It ataches without any welding, you use the two tabs underneath the bike.

Anyone else have to drill tabs out?
My jack adapter arrived today.
But my tabs under bike were to small for the pins? I will have to drill them out to get the pins to go thru. |

Just a heads up, you do not leave the adapter on the bike. You remove it before you ride. Bud provides a reminder ribbon with the adapter. Bud has sold hundreds of adapters and this is the first time I have heard of this.

All is well...
Mine is a 04 1500FI
Those tab holes were too small. but i drilled them out, and now the pins fit in. So I went and bought my MC jack from Harbor Freight, and will be trying it all out in the next day or two to see how it all works... |

That's odd, I also have a 2004 FI and the holes in the tabs we fine.

If you have a belt sander run the pins over the belt a few times to see if that will help the pins fit. I will be more diligent to remove more material from now on.
