Removal of reed valve -- HELP?
I am in the process of installing coasters and have removed the reed valves and all of the piping except for one small hose. I don't know what to do with this small hose. According to the drawing on Gadget's website (and what an incredible website it is, KAWA ought to pay him) the small hose is "#19 vacum hose which activates VSV on decel." It is connected to the rear of the right bell. Should I plug it? Many thanks to all of you experience folks who take time to help us newbies.

Removal of reed valve -- HELP?
I'll have to check mine to make sure, but I think, you just remove it, and plug the fitting off.
Do you have aftermarket airkit? |

Removal of reed valve -- HELP?
What exactly is the purpose for removing the reed valves? I diconected my ICS solenoids, but didn't like the way my bike ran. Does removing the reed valves have any effect on MPG or motor operation?

Removal of reed valve -- HELP?
It will stop the backfiring you will hear with custom pipes. The oem's are so restricked and quiet you don't hear it. It will also stop a clicking sound on deacceleration. Not to mention gets rid of about 4 miles, well maybe not that much, of hoses and valves. It really cleans up the look of the engine. I also am pulling the CIS too, I have them disabled until I remove them.

Removal of reed valve -- HELP?
I have a Thunder Air kit but I installed it years ago. Now I can't remember having a problem with any hoses, I do remember throwing a bunch of stuff away. DID you have fun cutting that air crossover box out. Now THAT'S a pain in the a$$.

Here's one way. Got this from gadget Find a piece of thin flat metal (thinner the better). File or grind the edges to a 'V'. The 'V' cut helps when you hold the metal off center so as the plastic cools it won't grab and stop forward motion. With a propane torch heat the metal bar until it begins glowing then insert it in the air tube. The hot metal will cut through the tube easily but don't breathe deeply, there will be lots of smoke and toxic plastic fumes in your lungs if you do. Heat the metal bar as many times as necessary. At this point, everything should be removed so lets put the new stuff on. For the left side I put this for a Ignition Switch This version is easy to reach and it attractively enhances the left side of the engine. Designed as an option for the FI Vulcan models It matches the right side now with Odyssey air kit
