Drive belt robbery

My belt failed at 57,000 miles, lost many teeth so new belt required.

Kawi wants $546 for a new belt....ouch! Beyond ridiculous.

My Harley belt went over 100k miles, FYI.

Has anyone found an aftermarket belt that does not rob all the $$$$ out of your wallet? Apparently Kawi has an iron clad monopoly on this part, bow down to the beast?!?

You can look on Ebay for a used one with low miles or check some salvage yards. Several on Ebay for around $200. I have 87000 on mine and will probably replace it at 100,000.

Maybe something in the link will be helpful.

Also send a PM to GV550 on this forum. He might be able to help. He has put hundreds of thousands of miles on Voyagers and might know a good source for a replacement belt.

I appreciate everyone's help.

The Dennis Kirk belt measures 1.125" and the Voyager belt measures 1.02 "

Not sure if he Dennis Kirk belt's extra width (only .105") will ride too hard on the rear sprocket belt guard?

My Kawasaki belt runs tight with the rear sprocket guard, which might be ok depending on the wheel alignment? For the slight difference in width and the way more reasonable price I think it is worth trying.

Has anyone else bought one of these belts? Comments are welcome always.

Recently replaced the belt on my Vaquero, I matched one up with a gates belt. Go to a bonafied gates store, look in their catalog. It fits a grain elevator drive system...
GATES 139T , as per the factory service manual, is helluva lot cheaper, is 40% stronger....wear on mine is great....

OR.....
https://www.clutchcomponentss.com/ga...al-drive-belt/

On sale, for under $100....., I'd get a couple, one in the trunks, one in toolbox.....gonna need them.....
Thats what I did.....
GoodYear also makes a good belt, also for under $100.....

hope this helps.....

Yes, I appreciate that advice and will investigate which belt will work.

Price gouging must be stopped, the way to do it is buy aftermarket, especially when the aftermarket solution is better than the OEM solution.

Yea, theres alot of scammers out there, and alot of ass-_ole folks out there really driving up the price of used, good bikes....I usually get alot of my parts ronayers.com, everything else I get the parts #'s and cross-reference them to avoid that stuff....
Damn shame Suzuki and Makawa didn't have some performance parts for these bikes....I could see them in bagger racing....
