Just picked up my Nomad 1700

Oddly enough, I saw a 1700 Nomad the same color as your today while on a ride. It was parked at the cafe where we had breakfast, and then I saw the same guy again about 30 miles up the road when we stopped for gas. That's a very sharp looking bike. I test rode one of these at Cyclefest in Scottsdale last April. One of the things I did notice was the "clunk" as it goes into gear, especially into first. I remarked about here when I posted about the test ride. I also noticed the gear whine on the demo bike. I wish I had checked to see how many miles it had on it. You'll be waiting for accessories for awhile. Kawasaki did a poor job of making accessories available on the 1600 Nomads. I certainly expected a better selection from them. Check the "usual" aftermarket vendors: Cobra, Custom World International, Kuryakyn, MC Enterprises, etc. I liked the 1700 Nomad I rode. I thought it sounded great, had plenty of 'snap' when you twisted the throttle and looks really nice.

Congratulations on the new Nomad. I've had my 1700 for a month now and the "clunk" when shifting has not gone away, I was hoping it would. Maybe some loud obnoxious pipes would drown it out, I'll stick with the clunk!. I also have the "whine" mainly on trailing throttle, probably a trait similar to all of them, I guess I'll have to get used to that too. I'm already used to the seat. I rode 500 miles from Waco to Amarillo on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and NO BUTTBURN! Went 200 miles yesterday and wanted to keep going. Guess I won't be spending any money with Mustang or Corbin! The seat does lock you into a smaller space and if you're a taller rider this might not be the seat combo for you, then the aftermarket might be the answer.
And no. I haven't found accessories yet either. Wompus has a nice luggage rack I may be getting. I also want a light bar but that seems to be about the only thing this bike needs. I miss having a stereo though and thought I could mount the aftermarket module I had on my '01 Nad on this one. The windshield is too close to the handlebar on this model though so I guess I'll stick with the I-pod on a lanyard around my neck. All in all a great bike though with lots of power, 6 speeds and cruise control. I'm lovin' it! My dealer called Saturday to let me know they got their 1st Voyager in, they knew I wanted to check it out so I guess I'll go see it tomorrow. It's already sold so I'll have to get there early before the owner picks it up. My wife misses her armrests so I may be trading for one in a couple years, in the meantime I'm a Nomad rider and glad to be one! Login or Register to Remove Ads |
