Yes, rode an Avon Cobra in that size on mine. Many here are riding that size tire in different makes.

180/70/16 size tire??

I had the Avon Cobra last year in 180/70/16. This year I'm running the Dunlop Elite 3, same size.

I too run the Metzler 180/70, but that's as large as you can go due to the shaft drive. Any larger and you might rub. Still on the stock front, but will replace with Metzler

Many are running 195s on the 1500s and up to 215s on the 1600s.

So 180 is not the widest you can run.

I'd like to know how they get a 215 on the Nomad? There's only about a 1/4 inch on mime now with the 180, between the tire and the shaft. Are they changing something?

You can also use a 160/80-16 and there are even more choices available. It's a little taller than the 170/70 or 180/70, so it reduces your speedometer error somewhat.

I just installed a 160/80 on mine and really like it.

You won't get a 215 on the rear of a 1600 without doing some serious modifications, but a 205 will fit. That's what I'm running (205/60R-16), and there is only .090" (about the thickness of 3 credit cards) of clearance between the tire and the swing arm.
