Sirius direct wiring

ok, got everything in place, now can i go direct to the sirius to my acc. outlet under my seat or do i need a converter to go from 12v to 5v... dont want to blow up the sirius. got the proper pin connector at Radio Shack so all set there.. any input would be great THANKS

Sirius direct wiring

Bugman,
If you have one of the new Sirus Radios, you need aprox 5 volts. The plug that comes with the sirus radio is the voltage regulator/reducer. I bough an extra one off e-bay for I think $6 then removed the regulator/reducer from the plug and hard wired it in.
DO NOT CONNECT 12 VOLTS DIRECTLY TO THE Radio Reciever

thanks so much, i'm glad i waited for a response, i almost got inpatient, can you take the lighter apart and use the reducer, i think thats what you said

It appears to be what he said buggy. The stuff you need is in the lighter plug and you must add on wire to the pieces that are + and - and put the plug you're talking about on the end.

You could also run a wire under the tank with a fuse in it and hook it up to a lighter outlet behind your windshield and plug it in direct along with a cell phone charger if needed. Just a thought. You can get one for about $3 at Walley World. Just be sure to put an inline fuse in the wire. Like 10 amp.
