First 2011 Ride!

I managed to negotiate through the ice and snow to gravel-encrusted roads for my first ride of the season yesterday. Felt absolutely wonderful...a bit cool, but I'm 3 weeks later than last season already, and I just couldn't take it anymore.
I was so excited I drove around for an hour with my Idaho Jack adapter hanging off the bottom of the bike because I forgot to remove it.

I feel for you - I heard about the snowfall out your way and was sure glad it missed us (so far). Hope you have a quick melt and get on the road soon...

It's a melting like crazy right now - but 10 inches of the sh*te takes a while to go. But, now they are talkin rain and lower temps??? Enough already!

First 2011 Ride!

Congratulations on being able to get out for a ride. I know it was exciting. I still get excited each time I take a ride. Not as excited as the people that have to wait months to take that ride though. I ride some of every month here in Alabama. I still enjoy but it isn't as exciting as being able to take the first ride of the season.

First 2011 Ride!

I got in my first ride of the season last Wednesday, a nice hour and half ride south of the city. But as rewindgy said, we got a big dump of snow over the weekend so it's gonna be a few more days until a guy can venture out again. C"MON SPRING WEATHER!!!!

First 2011 Ride!

I was able to get out a ride April 2 and 3 for 3 hours each day. I was so excited and pleased. Boy, did those stresses go away.

First 2011 Ride!

April 9th - first time I can get down the back alley - went out for a quick ride for coffee and then to a bike shop. Roads are clear but the gravel being thrown up by cars and trucks is bad!!! April 10th made it out to Strathmore for coffee - highway is good - lots o bikes out! Woohoo!

First 2011 Ride!

Made it out myself today April 10th. Went south to Nanton then west to Chain Lks, and up North along the foothills back to Calgary. Nice trip but very cool at Hwy speeds. And ya, it seems like everyone and his dog was out on there bikes. Good times! Best part about riding this time of year is the bugs arn't out yet so the bike looks just as good coming home as when it left.

I got the battery back in the bike and got in a short ride myself today. The universe is back as it should be!

First off,....good for you Brent! You beat me . I'll get insured soon I hope. But the weather has been wet and cold. I'm still working on getting the knee and my over all physical condition, back in shape. It's surprising how much muscle you lose after a couple of operations and not doing a whole lot physically. I hope the rest of you suffering with snow still, get some rain and warmer weather to help that white S*%T disappear. If it doesn't start to go away in some places I might have to change my route to Maggie Valley. "midge" in Calgary tells me finally got out and took his new Voyager out for a spin the other day. So it sounds like things are getting better in Alberta.

First 2011 Ride!

I've managed to get a 1000km in so far but it hasn't been easy. A lot of those km's were done under 4 C. But had a nice 400km ride to Drumheller and back to Calgary on Sunday (Note highway 9 has about 20km of gravel between Beiseker and Drumheller, not recommended). Now they are calling for snow today and tomorrow!
