Newbie Baffle removal

So after himming and hawing for a while now I finally decided to take out the baffles. My first comment would be totally worth it so if anyone is on the fence about it just do it is worth it.

My second comment would be those videos lie so hard. The baffle doesnt just pop out.

So the first one I drilled through no problem but pulling the baffle out was terribly difficult, thankfully my buddy who is a mechanic was around and we managed to get it out with a hammer and some needle nose vice grips.

the second one for the life of me we couldnt drill out the drill($20) pooched so i grabbed a real drill and we had 2 different blades and it would not come out so finally we got it, over excited we pulled the baffle, but the hole wasnt done all the way so back in it went drilled it out and it came out easy peasy.

If anyone is thinking of doing this you need needle nose vice grips a hammer and a good drill, that will make all of the difference.

At the end of the day it gave it a set of balls and it isnt over the top loud when driving it is a perfect sound.

The longer they have been in there the more difficult they can be to get out.
If you did this on the 99' in your sig pic I'm sure they we're a bit of a chore.

When I took mine out of my '01 last year, I had to use a slide hammer to get them out. Once I figured out that tool existed, it was no chore at all. Up until that point, though, I think I uttered about every four letter word in the English language and some from a few other languages.

So... I've done it all. I debaffled..it wasn't enough. I removed the goats bladder and welded in a cross pipe.. it wasn't enough.. I bought some straight pipes and it was plenty enough but they cracked at the head. I just installed cobra true duals and at first I was like ehhh.. but I had my buddy take my bike and do a drive bye and they really do sound great.. so the moral to my story is stop wasting time and money and just buy a solid exhaust system. That's what I was told when I joined this site and I tried everything to avoid the price point of a new exhaust system but I bit the bullet and I'm satisfied.

Budman - it I the 99, and it was exciting at times.

Morg6998 - My buddy who is a mechanic has a slide hammer he just left it at work. I mean what a guy, he should have known I was going to do this on a whim. Am I right? Also I didn't curse too much more convincing myself I can just weld it if it didn't work out.

Baggerbob - Well I'm glad yours fell out mine was bad enough for the both of us.

Joe - What were you trying to get? I'm not looking for the roar of Thor behind me. I just wanted some testicles in my bag-ger.

Well, they just don't "pop out" on a 16 year old bike with years of carbon build up in them. When I did my 07 Nomad with about 5,000 miles on it, they came right out.
