Looks like Triumph is committed to not competing against V-twins and will concentrate on 2 and 3 cylinder bikes.
For the T-Bird... they have also figured out that the owners would like to customize the bike... so they have already developed over 100 custom parts and pieces that the owners can choose from. Starting at just over $12k... they are likely going to sell a bunch of these. And the motor actually has a nice sound to it. Personally though, I would consider the Triumph Rocket III Touring model; which starts at $17,495 (2,200+cc motor; hard bags).

Sorry Ole Dawg.... how do you think I feel? that pic doesn't do the blue paint scheme justice. that thunderbird was beautiful! I can get it outfitted (as Greg pointed out) any way I want to!
that top picture of it with crash bars, fairing, backrest. leather tank chap and pouch, so much one can do to this bike! It even comes with several engine upgrades to up the ponies substantially!! All under warranty! Many exhaust options,,,, OM goodness. Factory 90 HP and 105lbs of torque before upgrades. Upgrades beat the VN 2000 in both HP and torque (not that stock sounds weak!) One of the reps there at the show told me to come down to his dealership (he owns 3) to ride one. He told Dave and I that I'd never get over it if I rode it! For now I said no thanks but............... like a Harley in CJ's garage..................... it's inevitable.....!!

BD, don't test drive something with 90 HP and 105 ftklbs of torque unles you want to trade your bike. Ponies and torque are seductive and addictive! Worm their way into your soul in one twist of the throttle.

The Rocket III Tourer is my dream bike. The only negative to it for down here in FL is that the right side gets mighty hot from what I hear.

He's right!........ "I RODE ONE" and can't let it go! Where I work (Part Time) I have to look at them on the Showroom Floor everytime I go in. As far as geddyup...... I think the stock version will smoke just about all comers in Cruisers except the Rocket, V Max and maybe 2 more. I here ya GW the Rocket 3 Tour is gorgeous with some serious geddyup. (The King) But I can't handle that UGLY Rad. That is all that stopped me from making that move. Even Mom liked it, except for the Rad. I'm just surprised that no one has reconfigured it by now. ??? I started on a THUNDERBIRD 53 Chopper with a sprung rear hub. Man has that Moniker Progressed! I still am amazed at how much torque that 1600 Parallel Twin generates. WOW! ::) BD If ya Ride it yer done!.......It Handles like a Street Bike. <marquee> You would definately be da man! </marquee> |

One of the KawaNOW guys from down here (can't remember his name) traded his in because it was so hot down here in FL with the heat coming off the right side.

Once the "itch" for a new bike occurs...... it is just a matter of time boys... it is just a matter of time.
