Cancelling the Self Cancelling Turn Signals

I've become frustrated with my turn signals turning themselves off when I'm not ready for them to be turned off. At first I thought that cancelling signals was a great idea... but I find myself turning them back on... and I always hit the button (out of habit from my last bike) to verify that they're off after the turn.

Is there a way to easily disconnect this feature?

Michael

I've had the same problem with my Nad. Depending on traffic the wait to turn may require turning them on several times. Are they on a timer? Is there a way to extend the time?

As I approach an intersection, if the signals been on for awhile I just hit it again to start the cycle over again.

Cancelling the Self Cancelling Turn Signals

I do the 'hit the button again'. But the other day I was driving in the rain with 3 bikes behind me and the dang things cancelled as I was changing lanes... (yes I turned them on earlier than normal due to the visibility and other yucky conditions) They thought that I was going to change my mind and move back...

Sometime I feel like I'm multitasking enough without having to have these things try to out think me.

I've never won an argument with an inanimate object... they just don't care.

Actually, I have the reverse problem. I have gotten so used to the self canceling signals when I get on my other bike I forget to cancel for a long time.

There should be a way to adjust the time delay on the cancel function. A multi-turn pot or something but I don't know where it is located.

if I'm not mistaken the turns cancel after so many feet driven not on time. We have long intersection waits in Austin, TX and i have to re hit the button if applied way back from intersection. Im pretty sure its so many feet(200 maybe). Hope this helps.

Doc, what is up with Austin lights and traffic???

I've had times when I had to hit the button again, but in the scheme of things, I don't see it as a major deal.

Yes the self cancelling is based on distance not speed with the nomad. If you just sit in one spot and turn on a blinker and watch it blink forever.I 'm just surprised you want to turn yours off. Most folks who dont have have self canceling (i.e 06 and up 900's) want to install the canceling units on there bikes not take them off. I'm like otheres that I'm so used to having my turn off by them selfs that when I ride the wifes 900 I ALWAYS forget to turn them off after a turn. LOLOL

I love them too.... i do have a habit of re-clicking them on to make sure they haven't turned off though..... oh well... if that was the worst of my habits I'd be doing great! lol
