Rolling Thunder 2011

Made the ride to D.C. to participate in "Rolling Thunder 2011" (not that far of a ride from PA) and had a fantastic trip.

The wife and I left on Friday and spent Friday night and all day Saturday riding around D.C. and Virginia. We visited lots of interesting sites (WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam Memorials). They estimated over 250,000 bikes were in the D.C. area this past weekend...bikes everywhere, on the streets, on the sidewalks, and even parked in the grass all around the Memorial Mall...it was awesome!

The majority (80% or so) were Harleys, but nearly all makes were represented...there were 4 other Nomads in the precession behind me...nice!

Hope some of ya'll were able to make it, and maybe a "KawaNOW" group ride could be organized for the 25th Anniversary ROLLING THUNDER 2012 next year...what do you guys think??

If anyone is interested in organizing a KawaNOW group ride to D.C. next year, let me know. I can start working on organizing something, and maybe we can get a large group of Nomads on the road instead of all those Harleys ;D

Maybe we could get group leaders in each of the sectors to organize their members and have large groups converge on D.C. for a massive Meet & Greet !!

If anyone is interested, let me know....Ride Safe

Sounds like you and your wife had a great ride. Glad you were able to do it. Your idea sounds good. Maybe someone will step up and get the ball rolling.

I left May 25th got to DC on Thrus. 5/26. Rode around and saw all the sights on Fri and Sat. Rode the Parade cut off right B4 the end and started riding back. Got home early afternoon on Monday the 30th.

Pretty awesome if your a Veteran you should do it at least once.

I might be interested in a group ride next year, if enough interest is generated and someone pulls it together.

Only after she rides on a titan silver BMW...Oh yeah, that's right, she doesn't frequent gay bars in Scottsdale. That's ok. At least she doesn't live far, just down the block.

We have Palin, you have Danielle Smith. May be not as cute as Palin, but in Ft McMurry, she'd be the queen of the prom for sure.

OK, you guys can have the ride with Palin, I'll take this Danielle Smith. I guarantee her voice is not so obnoxious and grating on your nerves as Sarah's.

I don't know what color hair she has, I couldn't take my eyes off of her 'purty lips'.

As long as the carpet matches the drapes, it's all ok.

Okay, okay, wipe the drool from your chins.... ::) ::)
I went to this event as well. I went last year for the first time and definitely wanted to go back, I am a Desert Storm Veteran. I rode with another group of Nam Vets for this event. It is very emotional and moving for Vets. I would definitely recommend this ride for any Vet and Non Vet to do at least once.
