Groups and Routes Heading to Helen Spring Rally

Hi all,

I have been looking at google maps plotting and planning, replotting and replanning a travel route to get to Helen in April.

Who's riding which direction when? I plan on leaving Crestview Florida Friday, 24 April, 0700...returning Sunday 26 April. I plan on running up to Montgomery, on to Atlanta, around the bend to Helen...my other option is to try to hook up with the south florida gang somewhere around Tifton Ga...

So what are your plans? Lets group-up and hook-up:)

We will probably slab it up I-75 or secondary roads up. I have to wait for Joe to chime in.

Natalie and I are probably heading up with Joe and Coach.

So I have to wait for both of them to chime in :)

We like the backroad idea.

Coach,

Thought I'd meet you Friday morning at one of the rest areas off I-75 north of Gainesville. You'll probably pick up I-75 near Ocala or Gainesville I believe. I'd head up the day before to get 5 hours of riding behind me to keep pace with you Friday morning.

Looks like we can pick up 129 in Valdosta and head north off the interstate from there. I'd have to play with the maps. For the sake of time, I would suggest half interstate, half back road highways (maybe I'm just saying that since I'm down here in the swamp).

Anyone wants to tag along the more the merrier :)

Let's kick it around, I'm open to suggestions.

Joe is the master of the Google mapping dealeo and Tammy is the chief map reader on the road...lol. I just ride.

Thanks Coach,

I'll have to mail it to Tammy so she can study it and I'll bring the laminated copy with me. Rather have a pretty co pilot/map reader than a GPS that I don't know how to program. ;)

I will take 40 over to Black Mountain NC...then hit 9 over to Hendersonville....64 to Dillard GA...then 15 to 76 to 255.

If any of ya'll plan to take I285 around to northside of Atlanta you might consider taking 400 due north to Dahlonega, pickup Rt19 to Rt129 to route 75 to Helen.

Probably a better option than going up I85 and cutting over to Helen.

I could suggest some other really nice roads in that area, but I'm sure you'll be tired and went to get to Todd's free beer ASAP!
