How safe are you from behind?
I went for a 300klm ride on the weekend with a mate and his wife, as we rode down the rode I was surprised at how little the bike stood out from the rear, even with the lights on. The weather was pretty crook, drizzle etc. It made me wonder what have others done to improve their protection from the rear. The bike looks great from the side and front. Any ideas?? :-/[img][/img]

I added LCD strip lights to each saddlebag. Run/stop , but I don't know if they are bright enough in the daylight to make a difference. A couple of my riding buddys thought they were not coming on when I hit the brakes. I checked at the next stop and they were working fine. May have to go to bigger lights.

I did the conversion to my turn signals, and then added run/turn/stop lights to the rear of my trunk. Really helps with visibilty.

How safe are you from behind?
If I remember right from the MSF course 3% of motorcycle accidents are from behind. Many if not all of these (in my oppinion) would happen anyway simply from people not paying attention just like when a car rearends another car or Semi-Trailer. Your biggest threat is whats going on in front of you. (10 oclock to 2 position) I've noticed that guys that put lights on the crash bars really catch my eye. It creates a triangle shape with the lights that really stand out.

I added the Electro-Pods LED brake light flashers, reflective dots on the four corners of the plate and I put red reflective material behind the pillion back rest trim peice. I also have reflective material on my helmet. Seems to work but, I'd like to try the Kuryakyn run-turn-brake light controller with brighter LED lights in place of the stock stuff.

I added LED running lights to my trunk, and I have 2 pair of driving lights up front. I concur with Wolfman's assessment that most danger is in front of you, not behind you.

In my experience regular light bulbs work better overall, and those white or clear lenses with red LED's under them are worthless except in the absolute dead of night.

I have a Priority signal converter on my rear turn signals, and a trunk with side reflectors on it.

I am going to add some lights and such to the rear of my bike. I already have Kury bullets mounted on the crash bars for a triangle effect.

I have the electrical connection brake/run light conversion but felt it wasn't bright enough during daylight so I added the lite blazer. really works well. I flipped it upside down so it stays slightly hidden under the luggage rack. A friend was following me down the interstate and said he could see them clearly for a mile.
