Is this normal?

My bike just went past the 200 mile mark. After I ride it and put it in the garage it some times makes a whinning noise about ten minutes after it is turned off. It has been faint and I can't figure out where it was coming from. Today I went out after ten minutes to check on the bike and it was louder then normal. It sounded like it was coming from the right side (as you sit on it) from underneath the gas tank. I opened the gas lid and it stopped. ??? ??? ??? ???

Pressure build-up in the gas tank.

Nothing to worry about. You can fix it if you want to take the cap apart and modify the spring. Nice bike BTW, Looks like mine.

Mine has never whistled but many do. Mine does leaks gas out of the cap if I start leaning it over too much after I fill it up. (not a lot just a little drizzle that I wipe off after I'm done riding)

The 800 classic I had before the Nomad did it every time I rode it. I actually got a chuckle out of it. The Nomad has only done it very infrequently.

My 99's and 05 didn't do it, or did it so rarely that I didn't pay attention, but my 06 does it all the time in the summer, and loud.

Mine is an 05 and it has never made that sound. But then I have the emission vacuum hoses on my tank.

i dont mind the whistle but after fill up on a hot day if you fill too full it will dribble some over flow and it always goes down the front head pipe and fries on. Looks like ice crystals. I use ALOT of elbow grease and nano Metal Polish and it comes off.
