Fort Smith Arkansas

My wife and I and another couple are planning to haul our bikes down to Fort Smith the end of March to try to ride for a couple days. Anyone have any "must ride" roads to do when we are there?
Mike

23(pig trail) north of 40.
16, 7,21 all good road. Not to many is Arkansas that are bad.
Riding thru the Ozark National forest is some of the best riding in the country.

@MRT, I'd second the PIG TAIL. Ufda, there a couple TIGHT ones on that road. There is an uphill hairpin to the left where you can drag a board in 1st!

Ride safe,
SMokier

If you are coming this way then yes you should probably ride the pig trail.
It's got several 15 mph corners and in some areas requires a bit more shifting than I like. But it's kind of a gotta ride it since I'm here.
Be sure and stop at Turner Bend Store near Cass. It one of those things you just do.
My favorite ride in the area is AR 123 from Hagerstown north to AR 7. 123 east of 7 heading north to Mt. Judea (pronounced Judy) is also a good ride.
It's known as the Arkansas Dragon. If you like big sweepers and little traffic ride AR 21. Take 74 from Jasper to Ponca and ride 21 (Ozark Highlands) south towards Clarksville.
Get something to eat at the Ozark Cafe in Jasper. It's right on the town square.
AR 16 from AR 7 east to Clinton is also a curvy ride with little traffic. If you are coming to Fort Smith consider taking US 71 south from Fayetteville.
Give me a shout if you in FS. I'll buy you a beer.

I guess I should have said you don't have to only go into the Ozarks for some roads to ride.
A good short ride would be to Mt. Magazine. Take 71 south out of FS to my neck of the woods. Head east on AR 10 through Greenwood and Booneville until you get to Havana.
Turn left and take 309 up to the park. Turn left off 309 into the park and check out the lodge.
Then continue on 309 down to Paris. Turn left onto AR 22 in Paris and ride west back to FS. Not a long ride but enjoyable.

Consider Talihima Drive in the Ouachitas. Ride from FS through Poteau, OK and take US 271 south towards Talahina. 7 miles north of Talihina is the junction with OK 1.
That's Talihima Scenic Drive. The road conditions will be fair at best in many locations but it's a nice 50+ mile ride across the top of Winding Stair mountain to Mena, AR.
You can stop at the Queen Wilihima State Park for lunch.
