Roger Clemens (The Rocket) was indicted today for lying to Congress. I find it just a little odd that Congress would have the gaul to indict anyboby for lying to them.

Regardless that Congress has better things to do than investigate baseball or what drugs the players use I think Congress is in no position to indict anybody for lying to them.

You have to remember who's in power, they HAVE to target a villain somewhere to keep the light off themselves.... it has worked for a very long time.

Notice Rangel and Waters corruption has faded from view?
Notice Franks and Dodd's involvement in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac kicking the wind out from the country under their supervision has long since faded.
Notice that Pelosi's stance and saying She was told but not briefed about waterboarding has faded.

The list goes on and on..... and they will keep throwing as much BS charges they can to hopefully help people forget what they got "CAUGHT" doing.... and as the elections have showed for decades... it does work.

You are so correct about worrying about someone lying to them. They lie to us so much it just comes natural to them.

Think about that... They all have skeletons in the closet. And since then how many of them have left office, after they were caught. Slick Willie would never go that far.

It wasn't because he lied to Congress. It was because he lied under oath. If he was just speaking to Congress informally, then it wouldn't matter. Because he swore to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth and THEN lied, it's perjury.

I know this is beside the point but it all depends on who you are. Clinton lied under oath and laughed about it after Hillary got over it. Never spent a day in jail. The Rocket could get up to 30 years but he's not the President, a US rep, or a US senator. Any one of them can lie under oath and it will all blow over after a little while.
