One or two cam chain extenders????
I havnt pulled it out yet but it sounds like the front timming chain is rubbing the spark plug tube if this is the case and the rear one is not rubbing would you just put a extender on the front chain and not the rear one? 26k on a 2006 thanks.

One or two cam chain extenders????
.....spirello
Although I have not had to do mine yet, if I were, I would do both. Chances are the rear is close to the same amount of wear and why not do both and be done with it. The front is usually the hardest to do unless the air intake crossover has been removed and then its much easier. The rear should be a piece of cake to do at the same time. Just my .02 cents worth! :) Mike

One or two cam chain extenders????
I have a question about the tensioners. Why are 2 needed? I don't know what it looks like in there but if 1 takes the slack out of the chain why are 2 needed? Just curious.

One or two cam chain extenders????
To me it seems a little soon to need these with only 26k on the bike. How many miles on a bike would you guys guess to be average to have to do this?

Mileage varies greatly but a lot do them around 35-45,000 miles. Ive got 55.000 and will be installing them soon.

One or two cam chain extenders????
If one needs it and the other doesn't I'ld be surprized.. Both chains ran in the same engine and so should have stretched about the same.
So then there should be about the same amount of slop/slack to take up. With out doing both the chain not getting a extender will be sloppy compared to the one that gets one, and that might cause the sloppy chain to bounce around on the cogs... Are you saying one chain doesn't also need a extender? About now I'ld like to make a wild comment about things that come in pairs but I might get busted!

One or two cam chain extenders????
First off check them by going here http://www.gadgetjq.com/cc_tensioner.htm to make sure you really do need them. The millage does seem a bit low to be installing them, most are in the 30,000 + range.. When I did mine it was at 34,000 and I only had 3 clicks left on one and 2 clicks of adjustment on the other tensioner.
