Had an uncle die on a motorcycle today
He lived out of state, so I really only kept up with him at weddings and funerals, so I don't need my spirits buoyed up much, it's just kind of a surprise. I didn't even know he rode a motorcycle. Last I saw him there was never any talk of a motorcycle.
From this news report he was traveling in the outside lane of a 2 lanes each direction highway. An oncoming car came from the outside lane of it's side and swerved for unknown reasons all the way over to his lane and got him in a head on collision. That's a hard one to defend against. If you try to swerve to the middle, the car might try going back to it's side, and still get you. You are already in the outside lane, so the weeds are your only option that direction. Scrubbing off speed and taking the head on at a lower speed might be the best option? He has young kids, too bad the car got him. http://www.ktvb.com/news/localnews/s....41e29213.html Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Thats too bad. Its so bazzar that you have to wonder if the driver of the car was drunk or asleep. I wish all the family well.

That's a sad thing indeed, Dan. That's the sort of accident that is such a rare thing that we're really not watching out for it; so it's really difficult to say what anyone should have done. My inclination might have been to head for the weeds. Maybe I'd get lucky and hit something softer than the front of a car. Who can say if there was time enough to even react though?

Thoughts and sympathy for the family, especially the kids and others close to him. Wrong place, wrong time.
