Question about cylinder head repair
I have a question, I have a 2008 nomad and I am replacing the rear cylinder head. I bought a used one from eBay. I haven’t gotten it yet but while reading the service manual it states that the rocker case and cylinder head are machined in place. I didn’t see the rocker case in the pictures. If it doesn’t include it am I screwed or can I use the rocker case I already have? Thanks

Ok, you head and rocker case are align bored. Best thing is to buy the head assembly, not the stripped down head assembly.
If you did get the stripped down head, if you take it to a good, qualified machine shop, they can align bore the cam bore journals....since the head and the rocker case are parted right on the cam journal bearing. Good luck....o

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately it didn’t come with the rocker case. It may be cheaper to order a mated set rather than pay for line boring.

According to the Kawasaki shop the kacr broke on the rear cylinder causing a leak and crack in rear cylinder head. The bike has less than 15000 miles. They said it happened because it wasn’t ridden enough. Sounds like a line to me. Bike has always been stored inside.

I removed mine while i was fitting new cam chains. The bike still starts easily enough without them.
