Electrical Troubleshooting help?

'06 Nomad 1600.

Brake light and rear running light are not working when the bike is running.

The bulb is working because I can turn the key to the accessory position and it lights up.

Neither the front brake nor the back brake make the light come on.

Electric is not one of my strengths.

Electrical Troubleshooting help?

Does the running light come on with the ignition turned to on(bike not running)? If not I wonder if this is a problem in the ignition switch?

No. The light only comes on when I turn the switch to auxiliary mode.

I found that only by coincidence. The bulb illuminated then, so I knew the bulb and the wiring were ok.

Bob, Did you check the tail-light fuse? The Tail-light will still work on auxiliary even if fuse is blown.

Jim,

You nailed it! And it's a good thing you did. I would have never considered the fuse because the taillight worked on Auxiliary. Thanks a lot.

Now to worry about why the fuse blew in the first place.
