Backrest questions

Hey all,

I tried to install the Kawasaki driver's backrest, and could not line up the holes. Almost like it was for the wrong model. As far as I know, the backrest for the Classic and Nomad are the same backrest.

Am I wrong? Has anyone else run into this?
Thanks in advance.

Doug

I didn't know Kawasaki made a driver's backrest for either the Classic or the Nomad. Do you have a part # for it?

I searched the Kawasaki website and couldn't find one.

Well the website says it only fits the 1500 Nomad. Dougster is a little thin on the information in his post. What bike is he trying to install it on?

Sorry CJ, we'll have to wait until Doug is back online. I was just lucky that my Previous Owner had all the original write-ups, magazine articles, Kawi brochure and Catalogue. My PO was a little anal retentive, and for me, that ended up being a good thing.

There for sure is a drivers backrest for the 1500 Nomads, had one on my 99. And the one for the 1500's for sure won't fit a 1600.

I've never seen one for the 1600 from kawi

Ditto on dans post. Grasshopper makes a good backrest for the 1600 http://www.grasshopperlimited.com/

^^^ +1 Had one on the C50 and now one on the Nomad. Easy install, removable without tools, cost-effective (under $100), makes a HUGE difference. Fits like a charme ;)

+1 on the Grasshopper backrest. I never had a driver backrest before now. It's comfortable, affordable, and riding is sweet.

Backrest questions

Hey,
Thanks a lot for answering so quickly.

rksaw and CJ,
Yes, that is exactly what it looks like (though I didn't look yet for a part number), and, yes, I have the 2003 1500 Nomad.

Dan,
I got it from a friend who has the 1999 classic. But from what I have been able to find out, the backrest part number is the same for both the classic and the Nomad. Also, the price was right!

I have been looking at the grasshopper backrest after reading the thread on it the other day. If I cannot get the one I have to work, I think I will get the grasshopper. I especially like the way it mounts.

Doug

If you get it on, you won't like it anyway. I have one on my bike (03' 1500), and I can't use it. It makes you feel like you are pushed up into the bars and windshield. Not comfortable at all.
