Hi everyone....I've been looking at Nomads this fall, and really think they're sweet bikes! I've owned 4 KZ's in the past, but feel a Kawi cruiser is finally for me at this age! My question is about FI......I've looked at the specs on this site and done some research, but it seems like I run into trying to figure out the Nomad's FI models. Is there something in the VIN (or a rock solid way) to tell if a bike has FI? I'm looking at a 2003 and a 2001 Nomads today and they appear to NOT have FI, but the history shows they should be? Any help would be great.....And hopefully I'll be on this board as an owner soon!

Hello westy62,
Welcome to the forum. I too am a newbie and have only been around a few weeks. I do own a 2005 Nomad and have been riding it for a couple of months now, since buying it used this summer. It's a great bike and I know you will like one if you go this route. Have fun on the forum..... Doug |

Westy,
Also, feel free to check out the "Specs" page on the KawaNOW website. It'll tell you which models are FI. http://www.kawanow.org/specs.htm PS. Welcome to the KawaNOW message forum. Trip

Thanks for the comments everyone, it sounds like you all enjoy your Nomads....Cool!! I made an offer on a 2002 Nomad FI yesterday, we'll see how it goes by Monday I guess! Minnesota seems to be getting ready for winter all ready....not much up here right now!

I purchased my 2007 August 16th and have just passed the initial 500 mile break-in period. I spent a lot of time comparing all bikes in the class and the Nomad turned out to be the best bike for the buck. Two of my coworkers bought 2007 Nomads before I ordered mine. Simply put, I totally LOVE it!
I checked out used Nomads (which were hard to find for sale in our area) and learned that I could buy new one for just a little more money. We all bought new for under $13,000 out the door. |

Well folks, I found an 01 Nomad FI in the Vintage Red/Metallic Canyon Silver color witk 15k on it, and it's a done deal....!! I pick it up Saturday from a private party. It's fairly well accessorized, nice condition, and has V&H bagger duals. I look forward to chatting soon! Wes

Westy, I've had my 2006 black Nomad for two weeks. The only down side is that it takes me a little longer to get to and from work. The bike seems to pull me toward the county roads, the long way. There's a hint of Fall in the air here in North Texas and the morning just seems to beg for a little ride through the back way past the horse farms and down the country lane under the pecan trees. I just leave a little earlier and walk into the church with a little spring in my step. Then, I go home for lunch and it seems to take me half an hour to get there, so I bolt down a sandwich and turn back around and jump on the bike.
I'm just sayin'. Plan for a little extra commuting time. You're going to want it. Neill |
