Florida Riders to Helen Spring Rally

Since we're a little more than a week away, I thought I'd start a new thread in Coach A's absence. Looks like he's swimming around in the panhandle area on his spring break odyssey. :( Hope he and Mrs. Coach A. are safe and dry.

In response to your PM:

Wayne is riding over from Weston (Ft. Lauderdale) and meeting me in Naples (I75 exit 107) at 10:00 am Thursday. We are then meeting Mike in Port Charlotte at exit 170 off I-75. Probably get there about 11 - 11:15. I would think we'll stop for lunch about 12:30 - 1:00 and continue on to Lake City. We have reservations at The Jamison Inn in Lake city for Thursday night, then we're meeting Coach A and his group Friday morning for the ride to Helen.

Looks like you will be coming on I 75 around exit 329. There is a rest area at mile marker 346 which is a possible meeting area, or at a gas station at exit 329.

We'd love to have you join us if that works for you. We'll have to figure a meeting time and location. Guess I can call you when we finish lunch, which would put us about 2 hours south of a meeting point. I've got to think that one out.

The plan is you guys and Mr. and Mrs. Coach are going to meet us at the McDonald's in Lake City for breakfast Friday morning. Whatever time you decide is good with us since you have a ride to Lake City.

Sounds like a plan. According to google maps, should take us about 8 hours plus time for stops. Should get us to Helen for dinner.

Joe, I'll make reservations at the Jameson in Lake City and plan to be at the rest area MM 346 - time to be determined.

If there's someone who might be interested in doubling up in Helen PM me.

So I'm on the fence about finishing up the trailer and taking it. It's only for a weekend, however bringing some warmer clothes will take up more space. Maybe different helmets for the weather. Maybe bring some fold up chairs if we are going to sit around in a praking lot to chit chat. And a cooler is always a good idea.

I don't know.... For those of you that have trailers, what are you doing? ???

I'm going to take Monday off work and try to finish it up. If I get it done (enough) I'll take it. I just have to put the lights, diamond plate, the car carrier and square it up... basically everything.

The only thing that concerns me is the maiden voyage will be a long way from home incase something happens.
