Ethanol

Having just rebuilt the carburetor on my lawnmower, I can't help but wonder, is ethanol doing the same thing to the gaskets, seals and o-rings on my Nomad carb? It's virtually impossible to find gasoline without ethanol anymore.
Experiences? suggestions?
Thanks

Ethanol

I don't know for sure, since I don't really check the pumps here to see if they all contain ethonal. I see some pumps say they MAY contain up to 10% ethonal.
Perhaps newer cars and bikes have the gaskets and o rings made of a different material that resists the effects better.

Ethanol

Down here Conoco gas contains no ethanol. I think there are a couple more that are ethanol free also.

Ethanol

It is a possibility that the ethanol might do the same to the gaskets in our bikes. I am fortunate here in north Alabama as there is still lots of stations with no ethanol in the gas. Always be sure and look on the pump before filling up.

We have the majoriy of gas here with 10% ethonol in it.
I have over 50,000 miles on my 07 and no problems so far.

Ethanol

Just had to have the carbs cleaned on my '03 Vulcan 750. He said the ethanol is the culprit. Cleaned and treated with..Star Tron Enzyme Fuel Treatment. Asked him if better if I tried to use ethanol free gas...he said yep just hard to find. He said the ethanol more problamatic for the carb bikes than the FI.

Here is a site that tells you where ethanol free gas sold...it is reg updated:

http://pure-gas.org

So we are going to put the ethanol free in as much as we can.in the bikes. One station in our town and going to print and take copy of list when traveling.

I have been reading a lot of reviews about star tron - most folks that have used it like it. On a per treatment basis it is cheaper than Seafoam. Here in corn country it is getting hard to find none-ethanol gas.

Thanks for posting the link for ethanol free gas. It is VERY difficult to find any pure gas around Atlanta.

Yup it is drying out everything in the way of seals. The big they want to make it 15%. I bet they can, but if they do we all will be walking, I do mean walking. It will frig up every engine you can think of.
