Knee update
Well, thanks to all for the support. Had the surgery on Thursday, been crutching it since. Pain has been handled by Tylenol. When I woke up they had nearly my whole leg wrapped in elastic bandages, from mid-thigh to foot with lots of packing, couldn't move it much. Had Doctor visit Monday to remove the 3 sets of stitches, check it and go over stuff. Doc said I had 2 places of torn meniscus, 2 bone spurs, one spot of torn cartilage, one area of damaged cartilage they smoothed up and one spot worn thru. He fixed everything he could and seemed to think it'll be ok. Although I've never had a serious knee injury, it appears as though I've been rough on them. So for about 6 weeks, no heavy lifting, high impact activities, ladders, stairs, etc. Start P.T. on Tuesday, leave for Michigan on Saturday, should be interesting.

Hope you heal quickly and that you are not riding this way on Saturday: we've got snow and ice up here.

Do what the doctor says, let your body heal up and get stronger. We're all here with you.

Knee update
Hey there bigdog.
Been there twice, (same knee both times). With the meniscus, you definitely do not want to put any weight on it, otherwise you could end up just tearing it again. If you can stay on the crutches for 6 to 8 weeks, it'll really help. My last knee injury, I was playing basketball and I landed wrong. Tore the ACL, the MCL and the meniscus. The MCL healed fine, but had to graph a ligament from my calf for a new ACL and then used two screws to hold it in. Meniscus seems to have healed well also. Have played basketball several times since and lift weights 5 days a week, No problems. Stay with the rehab, it will also help alot on gaining full movement of your knee. I traveled to Japan a week after my injury, it was quite an experience getting around. Good luck |
