Trailered down from Indiana yesterday to the Tail of the Dragon. Unloaded my dad's 1999 Vulcan Classic at hotel and the ignition switch didn't work. Just replaced in March. Dead Again after riding all weekend last week.

Part # 27005-1215

Just looking for a new one and all dealers are closed until Monday. Any help is apprishiated.

Thanks,

Glenn B --- 1999 Vulcan Classic, 1500

Do you have a lot of keys hanging on the ring with the bike key? If so get rid of them bike key only in the switch with no weight hanging on it. The weight seems to destroy the switches.

I am doing the harley switch swap when my bike sets long enough. because of the ignition switch location and issues with it i have studied the wiring diagram and keep some quick disconnect plugs handy so if i am several miles off the beaten path a bad ignition wont leave me stuck.

Yep I have all the parts to do the HD switch swap also. Still trying to figure out how to do it and have it look like it belongs there. Really don't want to give up any of the lights on my dash panel.

Just order the mount from Chucksters.

It bolts on to the 4 bolts that hold the handlebars tight.

His set-up is plug and play.

I swapped mine out in about 20 minutes.

How long are you going to be there?

If you can't find one, I have one here that could be overnighted.

I know about his but I have Phat II risers and a gps mounted between them. Don't want to give them up either.

We've made the decision to head home. Since I'm the only one that works (the other two are retired), we're not out much. We'll reschedule for the fall. Live and learn. Don't hang heavy things like garage door opener fobs on your key ring... but it shouldn't be an issue if they were made properly. Thank you everyone for your help. Doug B.

Question: The ignition switches on a '99 Vulcan Classic and a '01 Nomad have different part numbers. Are they really different?
