redid bike

Finally finished everything but the Gold Leaf. Will have to wait a couple of months before the wife allows me to get it done. Boy was it a pain to wire and get back together. Pictures of before and now.

It's an 8" tablet. I saw some people do it in cars and so I thought put it in a bike fairing and a car and be able to switch it between both depending on what you are driving. It has all my music, gps, etc. I used blue-tooth to hook it up to the amp and it charges when it is docked in the fairing as well. It has worked out great.

The Apes on the before and after are the exact same but with all the add-ons it makes them look different.

They are 16" tall, 1.25" round.

Does the GPS signal rely on your cell phone, the tablet, or does it have it's own antenna? If it relies on the cell phone or the tablet do you ever loose the GPS signal when you loose cell phone coverage or does it download the maps?

The tablet. I added the tablet onto my existing cell phone plan. It has its own data plan and it uses gps through that plan. You can get different apps for GPS that will allow you to download routes as well as have it live. I use both Google and Waze and I have found that even if you temp lose coverage it will keep the last known route up and allow it to be followed. I also have downloaded music as well as Spotify that I can stream or download songs from and favorite radio stations that I can stream. I have a Speedometer app called Ulysses Speedometer pro that I really like. I can control all my apps through Ulysses so I don't have to bring up and shut down different apps.

Sounds like you planned it well. I have an AppRadio that I was thinking of putting in the fairing but I go to places that I would need a real GPS device.

You don't see very many nomads with the fishtail pipes . I think they give your bike an original look . I like it !! How do they sound ??

Is that Ostrich Vinyl? (I am only assuming that you didn't use leather... maybe it is?) Cool. And did you do the upholstery, or have it done?

Since I saw another member's ride with a leather seat, I always thought one that was tooled like a western saddle might look cool.

Anyway, nice job - definitely unique.

For GPS I'd suggest Sygic as an option. It's an excellent android or Apple app that requires no data connection, is Tom Tom based, offers lifetime maps, and has a very nice UI... all for a one time only payment.

If I could find a tablet that let me use the touchscreen with gloves on as well as my Garmin does - I'd go back to Sygic in a flash.

Route planning I do using "TYRE to Travel". It's seamless with the Garmin, but does require a work-around for Sygic.

I use Tyre to Travel with a TomTom also.

I have a Pioneer AppRadio that is touch screen just sitting around that I was considering throwing in. I was able to buy an Eclipse AVN4430 on eBay last night and will be putting that in some time in the near future. The AppRadio has no CD or DVD so it mechless. The Eclipse AVN4430 has a removable TomTom from the stereo but has a tilt screen and CD/DVD. We'll see how that holds up on a bike. One of them will work after I waterproof them.

I have Monster baffles in the head pipes and no baffles in the fishtails. It has a nice low rumble to it but if you get on the throttle they can be quite loud. Monster makes a quieter baffle now but when I got these they only had 1 type and sometimes it can be louder than I like.
