Passport is here
It is one of the card types. Says it has a chip in it. Does Customs on both side of the border have high speed readers or do I have to slow down both ways?

We don't have the chip, as far as I know,...you have to stop and say hello to the friendly border guard. Don't forget to leave your gun at home,......Does that confirm you're coming to the rally in Canmore????

Not only stop and say hello, but answer all sorts of questions.

Also if you are riding with another bike what ever you do go one at a time.
They frown on double teaming them. Yes, I know from experience.

Idaho, coming into Canada, not all ports of entry have the card readers. Going into the US most do have the readers. If you hold your card out as you approach the customs booth, your card will be read. Here where we live, US Customs officers like this because they know who is approaching their booth. By the time you even get to speak to the officer they have all the info on you and your bike. Enjoy the trip.

There was an article in this morning's Calgary Herald stating that Canadian passports will have the microchip imbedded in them within a year.

I wonder if my motorcycle and health insurance will be good in Canada.... guess I better call my insurances. Someone told me today that they had to buy $150 of some insurance to cross Canada going to Alaska on a bike.

There's a long story that'll put my comment in perspective. Let's just say I had a little trouble going across the border the other weekend. Tell you all about it over a coffee Dave, when you have some time.

So, Rick, have you been able to work out your time off so that you can make the rally?
