Airbrush - picking it back up after 20 years
A friend is having his brand new Road King custom painted over the winter. I used to do custom paint back in the day but long ago went a different path. In conversation my buddy mentioned he was hoping to get some skulls aribrushed on his hard bags but the painter only does graphics not airbrush. Hmmm, it got me thinking about putting my hand to it once again to see if I still had it. I offered to let him be my guinea pig and the fool agreed! We're in the middle of the project now, about to put the clear on tonight, and I thought I'd share some pics of the progress so far. I'd have to say I'm pretty pleased with the results so far and can't wait to see the bike cleared and reassembled. Will take more pics as that happens.

Looks great Joe, what is that you are using in pic 113 a paint pen?

Thanks, but oh no, I made a clear conscious decision about that calling long ago. They are over at the paint shop right now clearing the thing and I am SO happy I am home where it does not stink and where there's little chance of seeing my hard work wrinkle up or run like a waterfall. Clearcoating is very stressful to me. If I was in that business it would be a daily prospect, along with sanding bondo and a dozen other body-shop chores that have zero appeal. I DO love the final result though. :)

Nice work. I have a good deal of respect for someone with artistic ability. I have none, myself. I failed art class in 7th grade.

I could only wish to be able to do that. Mechanical ability is good, electrical better (2 years of schooling helps), Artistic ability.. I can paint a house but that is mostly just staying inside the lines. Very nice work, i'm extremely jealous... Just wondering what took you so long to decide to lay down some graphics on your ride...?
