Southern Alberta

Found myself out of work this summer, so I spent a significant amount of time exploring the backroads of beautiful Southern Alberta. Here are a few of the highlights, including one from Vulcan, Alberta.

A couple of these were taken around Drumheller. The Last Chance Saloon is just outside Drumheller in a little place called Wayne. A fantastic ride and if you go on the weekend, you'll find dozens of bikes there, a big spot for two wheelers.

Dammit Woofie! You're making me wish that it was summer already. Winters are just too darn long in these parts.

We will definitely check out Wayne and stop at last chance. And yes the winters are far to long when you get the itch this soon into it.

I like the ride to Wayne as the Rosebud River winds through the valley and you cross 11 bridges in a 6 km ride to get to the Last Chance saloon.

Duffy,
Just checked the VR forum and don't see where any dates have been set yet. So depending on the timing and where I'm working at the time, it is hard to say right now.

I am considering a "northern" return. I need to see more of Canada than BC.

I've been wishing it was summer since the end of summer. And I can't believe I still owe you a beer.

Nice pics Woofie. I took a drive with my Castlegar friend a couple of years ago from his place to Calgary to pick up a pool table. We took 2 north off of 3 and 22 on the return trip.

I was loving the scenery and wishing the whole time that I was riding instead of in a truck, resolving to return, which I will this spring/summer. This time I'm planning on taking 1 out of Salmon Arm, crossing Banff and into Medicine Hat, returning on 3.

Does anyone happen to know where Ian Tyson's ranch is? I understand he is welcoming to visitors.
