MPG before mods, after mods...
OK, just filled up after a tank of "normal, everyday" riding. No hot-rodding, no showing off, no nothing. Just plain ol' riding: 60-65mph on the superslab, constant speeds, gradual accelerations, the whole 9 yards!
My mpg for "normal" driving is....... 35mpg. Compared to the 32mpg when I drive more aggressively (which is rare for me, anyhow). All said and done, I can live with the mpg for both styles given the mods I have. Hope this helps those who are in the process or are considering performance mods. Interesting. You must be hitting around 75 to 80 on the interstate all the time. Am I right?

35 mpg is what I figure as an average. My 05 is completely stock except for a lightbar, risers, and reflectors (lol) on the bags. I'd say you are doing very well indeed.Oh,can't forget my little bell either, gotta keep the gremlins away.

Ive always gone about 175 to 190 miles on a tank which which works out to about 40 -43 mpg, thats with all of the mods on the bike, I don't know what it got prior to that as I bought the bike already done as seen. However the last few tanks I used before I parked the bike my mileage dropped quite a bit for some reason, 130-150 miles per tank, and the bikes smells of raw fuel out the pipes. Hopefully its just cold weather causing it to get poor mileage, but it will get checked out in the spring.

Ringh, is that 175-190 miles or km ? Just curious since you are in Canada. That seems really good if it is miles.

Thats miles, I have an american bike, that I had shipped up here and I HATE the metric system. Ive heard also that winter blends of gas give poorer mileage, but why does my bike smell like its running richer? I havn't been able to figure that out yet, but its so cold here, 10f today, that I will leave it until warmer weather arrives.

Having done the resistor, and debaffling mods, my efficiency has eroded. Prior to, the weather was warmer, I was going slower and I was getting 38-40. I ride at least 40 miles a day (work) and lately the morning temps are 30-37 degrees. I run 75-85 MPH (Commuter Lane). Winter and speed is killing my mileage. I'm getting 30-34 MPG now. The cold is making it run richer than required. I think that could be partially overcome by adding an "on/off" switch to the resistor.

Having done only the muffler mod and no engine mods I'm getting 38-40 and I'm very happy with this. I have not check milage in the cold weather will have to see if this has caused a drop are not.
ride safe. |
