Hey Guys
Hey all, new to the forums here. The real name's Dan, just picked up my Nomad over the weekend. She's a left over '08, two tone blue and silver. Everything I could have ever wanted on my bike! Found the forums while looking for accessories. Didn't know Gadget was a part of the forums, his site really helped out a lot before I bought it.
So now that I've introduced myself, what is the first thing I should do to the bike? Stock is nice, but modified is better! Thinking about a set of highway pegs, bag liners from TLC Products, and maybe exhaust, but I don't know who all makes exhaust for them. Thanks, and Hello! Dan Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Hey Guys
welcome to the nut house, where are you from, you will learn alot for this site, if you want to save money for other bling on your bike, debaffle the exhaust and see how you like it, that way save about $600 for other goodies

Hey Guys
Welcome Dan!
Got to warn you, when you start down the modifications path it's a slippery slope with no end in sight! For the exhaust there's Vance and Hines, Cobra, Roadhouse. . .maybe another that I can't think of.

Hey Guys
The first thing I would change would be the seat. This is the biggest change you can make from a comfort standpoint. I have my seat off to Mean City Cycles (http://www.meancitycycles.com) now to do a change for me before my big 1k trip next month. There are people that swear by all kinds of after market seats though. Mustang (http://www.mustangseats.com/) is popular and so is Corbin (http://www.corbin.com/) , though less popular than Mustang. The best seat overall, but really expensive is the Russel Daylong (http://www.day-long.com/) seat. This seems to be the best mod, from a comfort standpoint that people make. Some even find the stock seat comfortable. It will feel that way for about and hour for most before they butts go numb and their tailbone is killing them.
As for pipes, most have gone with the Vance & Hines True Dual Baggers (http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/de...roduct_ID=4691). This is what I have and they do sound great. Mine were a serious pain to install including having to send them to V&H and still ended up having to cut a 1/4" off the rear cylinder head pipe to get it to work. That said they sound incredible. If I had to do it all over again I might go with Cobras (http://www.cobrausa.com/exhaust_comp...=3&model_id=93). I would also recommend that if you don't go with an aftermarket seat and like your stock seat or have your stock seat redone by someone like Mean City, that you get the Grasshopper backrest (http://www.grasshopperlimited.com/). The guy that makes these is a member here and they are great. I got one and I love it. Depending on funds if you do a exhaust you can also upgrade your intake and fuel processor. Many, if not most, have the CaddmanQ intake mode either on both sides or only on one (right). This will bump you horsepower by at least 10%. The Caddman is discussed on Gadgets sight and there is also a good pictoral on the Kawasaki Motorcycle forum. When it comes to fuel processeors there are 3 that people use here, the PCIII, the TFI, and the Cobra. All are good the latter two are much less expensive and are easy to setup and use. Hwy pegs are great to get, I have the Kury ISO Dually. Vista cruise is another inexpensive but nice thing to have. If you want a drink holder you can get one for a mountain bike and mount to your windshield and it works great. There is so much you can do to your bike to make it your own. I hope you really enjoy your Nomad, they are wonderful bikes. Oh and welcome again to KawaNOW!!!! |

Hey Guys
Oh and welcome from the Great State of Oklahoma. We have windy airports, as most know the wind comes sweeping down the planes. :)

Hey Guys
Welcome to the Nomad Nation.
I hope you are ready to be inudated with suggestions for your bike because you just asked a bunch of "mod crazy" people what to do with it. I don't think anyone has a completely stock Nomad around here. |
