Video from Rally Ride
Edited down some of the footage from the Peel's ferry ride at the NC/SC rally. Still too long. :)

Kind of hard seeing around that 3 wheel thing, it should have a sign on the back.
WIDE LOAD!

Very nice video Glenn. Nice and steady. Oh, that is a great looking ride you're tailing during the first 5 minutes.

Good job Glen. Thanks for sharing, we can review and remember for a long time now.
I'm not sure I like the Speedo, reminds me of the one on my GPS that always shows up in red.

How did you get your speedometer to show on the video... Inquiring minds want to know.

Last fall Garmin released a video camera. (Anybody else know about this?).
I shot the video with a Garmin's Virb Elite. The Elite has GPS, and an accelerometer. It can also interface with a few other sensors. It records the video as a regular MP4 file and then records the sensor data separately. You can use VirbEdit software to create a video with overlays of your choice. (VirbEdit can also use any MP4 video file and a tracklog from a separate GPS.) They have gauges for speed, temp, heading, tracklog, elevation, etc. You can choose from pre-made overlay templates or make your own. The VirbElite has an Android/iOS app that allows you to setup all the record options and use the phone as a viewfinder to help in positioning the camera. The Elite can also use it's accelerometer to give a bubble level right on its screen for leveling assistance. Both the Virb and Virb Elite can be controlled from a zumo touchscreen to start/stop video recording and to also take a still photo (or burst of stills depending on how it is setup).

Did not know this. But apparently this unit is quite advanced compared to a standard Go-Pro and the like.
Do you have to connect it to the bike to get the speed readings though? Not sure how I would do that, but it would be cool to do for some of things I am planning on doing. The other features you mentioned are also a possibility for my use as well. I'll look this up and see more about it... but if you could answer my one question I would appreciate it.

No, you don't have to connect it to the bike. The speed readings are from the GPS in the elite model. You can mount it on your helmet if you choose. I did mount on my tip over bar as I didn't want to helmet mount. There are a couple of other body mounted options as well.
