Don't use cruise. Seriously, the clutch and brake levers each have a switch that cancels the cruise control. If the fringe you added is de-activating your cruise control, then you know what the problem is and what you need to do to fix it.

You could either cut an inch off each side at a time till the cruise does not shut off.
Remove one strand of fringe from each side till the cruise does not shut off Remove the fringe all together Quit using the cruise Get a throttle lock Get a cramp buster for your throttle.

With that long of fringe on the clutch lever the wind resistance can pull on the lever just enough to make it slip a little on the highway and you won't notice until the clutch goes out early.
This happened to my sister in law. (she loves fringe)

Not being well educated in the attachment of fringe I wonder why you cannot attach it directly to the end of the handlebar instead of the brake/clutch levers.

Ok, perhaps I'm about to kick a hornet's nest here, but I've spend most of my 30+ years of motorcycling on sportbikes so indulge me... doesn't fringe belong on a pink girls Schwinn or a Hardley-Ableson, which in truth are basically the same thing?
They don't look much different to me...

Yep, you did. I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you on that.

I'll never understand fringe, but that's what motorcycling is all about, doing your own thing... I'm the guy riding a Vaquero in the same gear I wear on my R1, one piece Alpinestars racing leathers, Sidi racing boots and Scorpion EXO-1000 full face helmets and I've had people ask me why I dress like 'that' on a Vaquero. Next machine I'm adding by August is a Ducati 1199 Panigale, everything can coexist easily...

If you want to dress like a Power Ranger when you ride your Vaquero, that's your business.

Note where the fringe is attached on this fine riding machine. Certainly not on the brake handles.

BTW, I totally agree on the fringe, although it looks pretty good on the Barbie bike.

I saw a HA's bike with what I thought was fringe hanging off his handle-bars.
Once I realized what it was I decided it was best to not mention anything about his fringe... http://www.chilhowee.net/whips.html
