Rally Countdown

I figured I would use my 3000th post to say how excited I am....at both the upcoming Redwoods Rally and the fact I am off for Vancouver Island in the morning....Nootka Sound to be exact! I have a date over the next few days with some large Chinook salmon, tasty Halibut and possibly a few chunky Lingcod... !

I dropped the bike off at the shop Saturday for a good servicing after my recent 2700 mile trek, so it should be good to go for the Redwoods gig! I also decided after that long ride to pull my Ultimate Baffles out and slip in the old stock V&H Baffles for a change....with about half of the original fiberglass wrapping held in place by three large hose clamps. I think listening to my UB's drone on for eight straight days kind of wore on me a bit. I am surprised at how good the V&H baffles sound, but you have to be getting on it to get the same satisfaction you get with the UB's all the time... ::). It's like trying to wean yourself off of a good drug... ;). The V&H baffles are really a lot quieter at idle and when rolling along, but they do have a nice bark when you roll on the throttle.

My wife just shakes her head as she really likes the UB's better...and I do too for that matter. They will be going back in the bike before too long, especially for day rides...they just sound too good. But for longer trips like the ride to Crescent City and future solo trips....I think I'll be going with the V&H baffles just to save a little sanity and not have to depend on my earplugs quite so much.. .

Anyways....I'll be off the grid for the rest of the week (starting tomorrow morning) and count on some pics as soon as I get back... !

Fishing is right up there with riding! I even have a break down pole that fits in my saddlebag.. lol. Good luck on the ocean fishing trip.

I'm thinking that Kris could use an assistant, or apprentice. I'll gladly leave production to be Kris' cub and fish and ride like he does.
What do you say Kris? I'm not young, but I'm a hard worker! :)

You guys just don't have your priorities worked out. You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.... ;) . Daryl, a good guide is worth twice what a good assistant is....I'm just sayin'... ! We are fishing with Adrian O' Connor of Reel Obsession Sport Fishing out of Zeballos, BC on Vancouver Island. I'm here writing an article for him about his operation, which is two thumbs up! BTW....the ONLY reason I work is so that I can ride and fish.... !!

Big halibut I caught today....

Nice King Salmon caught by me and my buddy Bob Peterson.....

Today's (kept) catch.....we released s lot too....

I did my PM last weekend. Just trying to decide if I should do tires before or may be have to do them during or after. I have almost 4K on them with probably almost 5K for the trip. I have no idea how long these should last. I have heard everything from 6K to 14K, which covers a lot of territory.

i replaced the rear and then later decided to replace the front also just for that extra peace of mind.having
to change them in route would be a real pain in the but.
