Looking for tire input.

Last year I put new tires on my 2007 1600. I went with the stock Bridgestones and I need to replace the rear tire. I would like to get a different longer lasting tire but the front still has allot of meat.

Here's my question. Can you mix tires till the front needs to be replaced ?
What have other's done and want tire and size do you recommend ?,

I think I'm set on the Michelin Commander II should I go with the 180/65/16 or the 150/80/16 ?

Thanks.

Ive mixed tire, its no problem, Ive had good luck with the Dunlops the past few seasons. Avons are also a good choice. I'd avoid the Metzelers.

I have a Michelin Commander II on the front. Don't have enough miles on it to tell you much but I do like the handling when I went to a 130/90 rather than the 150/80.

Not sure if they come in a size that would fit the Nomad or not, but Bridgestone 023's are amazing both for traction/cornering and durability. First tire I've used that I prefer to Dunlop E3's.

My Nomad came with Dunlop 404s, and I kept them for about 30k. I got tired of changing them every 6k or so. I ride nearly daily, so I was changing 2 or 3 times a year. I did a bit of research and found higher mileage tires cost more...go figure. So the price per mile didn't change much. I finally went to a car tire on the rear. I got 20k out of the first one that was slightly used when I bought it. I now have my second one on now and I went to a Dunlop rear on the front about 3k ago. It looks like the mileage is going to be really good for the price. I'm getting kinda long in the tooth and ride like an old man. I have found NO difference in the handeling of the bike with these tires. I'm not recommending any thing, but this has saved me a bunch of dollars and trips to the scooter fixit shop with no adverse effects.
Thanks for your time

I put Michelin Commanders on my Voyager last spring and have about 11,000 kms on them [front and back] very pleased with the handling and I should get at least that again in km next year. Very pleased and will go with them again when these wear out

MICHELINE COMMANDER II 180/65-B16 .
I got tired of replacing my back tire every 10K miles or so. Even tried a car tire for 5K miles. Couldn't get use to the feel of it so I took it off when I heard about the Micheline Com 2's. Got over 10K on the rear Com 2 now and it's not even close to being worn out. I'm sold on them...and yes, you can mix tire brands with no problems. Just be sure not to mix radials and bias belt tires.

Best price is usually Dennis Kirk, Rocky mountain ATV or Chapparel.

My thoughts also.
I am "double darkside"

Michelin commander 11 rear MC tire on front.
Bridgestone Turanza on back.

I ride most every day, and I expect these tires to last many miles, I had almost 30 k on my last Turanza, dont know about the Michelin, but it still looks new after around 10 k......

Avon cobra best m/c tire I ever had. I ride a car tire in the back now. Wouldn't go back to M/C tire in rear on the nomad again.
