Cobra Fi2000 settings

I was hoping to get a little help from the forum members here. I have installed Cobra Tri-Oval mufflers, Fi2000, and a K&N filter on my 2011 Vaquero. I am still having issues with popping on decel. I have blocked the fresh air intake and checked for leaks in the exhaust. Cobra recommends pot 1 at 4.5, pot 2 at 4.5 and pot 3 at 0. Any recommenditions from those of you with 09-10 Nomad/Voyagers as to the best settings on the Fi2000?

Thanks,
Jim

I have the FI2000R on my '08. The only mod I have accomplished is the debaffle. My instructions state the setting is pot 1 should be 3 pot 2 should be 5 and pot 3 should be 0. That is 3-5-0. Unless they have changed something I would try those settings. Is your Cobra fuel modulator the FI2000R or FI2000? Where do you live?

It sounds like an exaust leak is still there, sometimes they are hard to find & seal for some reason.
Did you use new exaust gaskets and tighten the headers pipe flanges equally?
One time I had a bear of a time trying to get the rear pipe to seal.
I finally got it after numerous attempts.

Gene, he has a 2011 Vaquero. That's a 1700. I wouldn't assume the settings would be the same as a 1600.

Jim, you might get better results posting this in the 1700 tech section, go back to the index and it's about a page down. Most of the folks in this area will give you answers related to the 1500/1600.

Guess I missed that Scott. I was getting sleepy when I posted. Sorry about that.

Jim, I too have an 07 so my settings are closer to Alabama. I would recommend going through the procedure of setting them manually for your bike as Cobra recommends. If you have a tach it is very easy to get pot 1 exactly right. But start by warming your bike up. Set all pots at 0. Lock your throttle at a higher RPM than idle, maybe 1500-1800. Then turn pot 1 until it gets to a peak RPM, when it drops, dial it back a little. Doing that will have pot 1, set perfectly. Pot 2 is set by riding and feel, you can move it up/down a half setting until the bike feels best with roll on power. Using Cobra's recommendation of 4.5 is probably a good starting point. Pot 3 is usually 0 on most of all I have seen.

Jim, If you don't find any exhaust leaks, you might try backing off a little on Pot #1. I had a similar popping problem at higher elevations. Turns out the sea level settings on my Dobeck were too rich for mountain riding. The 1700's do have reed valves?? If you haven't plugged off the reed valve intake hose that would help.
