Chatter when shifting

I get chatter when I shift from 1st to 2nd. All other gears are fine. If I shift at a very slow speed no problem. Fluids are topped off. 5k mi
Any help is appreciated. 2004 Nomad 1500FI

Chatter when shifting

Thats the shift that has the nuetral finder between it, are you shifting easy? you should give it a crisp clean shift. That doesn't mean pounding it hard, just a definate clean shift.

Chatter when shifting

Thanks for the info. I am shifting a little soft because I was concerned I would damage something. I am glad it is not an expensive repair. Thanks again!

Chatter when shifting

I found with my bike that if you pause for a second after pulling in the clutch, before shifting, that it goes much smoother.

Best to let the RPM's fall a bit before the shift. Makes it smoother.

What they said. A little hesitation going into 2nd usually makes it smother.

I agree shift like you mean it, and if it still does it think about an oil change.
