Gear indicator issue
Recently I have noticed that the gear indicator on the console of my 2012 Vaquero sometimes doesn't immediately reflect the gear I am in. usually when shifting up between three and four it will jump to five then return to the proper gear. It also occurs occasionally when gearing down from fourth to third it will jump to two, hesitate then return to three. Has anyone else had this issue and is there a simple fix. Thanks

This is a known issue. Some people have have it fixed only to have the issue return shortly thereafter. If its under warranty get it replaced, or live with it. It eventually indicates the correct gear, it just takes a little while to get there sometimes.
There is no simple fix you can perform yourself.

Some have had the spring replaced but it is inside the motor and needs to have the cases split, I got it fixed once, and the same problem happened again, I live with it rather than have a mechanic tear the engine apart to replace a spring, even if it would be done under warranty.

I too have the prob with the GPI. Shop fiddled with something and it worked better for awhile. Seems we will all just live with it?

I have a 2011 Voyager with the same issue, Id rather live with it than have the latest grad of an online motorcycle repair school tear my engine apart.

Don't have an issue. It does seem to hesitate when shifting up or down, but then reads correctly after a couple of seconds if not sooner. Never timed it.

They always indicate the riight gear eventually. It just seems to take a little while sometimes.

I found that slowing the shifting down a tad (rather than running through the gears or speed shifting), works for me. Gear up no higher than the recommended rpm's in 2nd, 3rd etc., and be deliberate in your throttle and clutch work. This gives the indicator a chance to register in the proper gear. Or maybe I'm just blowing smoke out my ass?
