We left at 5 AM from Mesquite to beat the heat. The ride out there was hotter than hell so we learned -- "don't do that."

Western Rally Home Roll Call

I'm home. 1,800 miles

I called the wife last night at 10:30pm to warn her that I was coming home all the way home, and not to freak out when I came in at 3:am unexpected. As many might imagine, I was told that I better get a room and sleep and get the last 500 miles in the morning.

I did what would make her happy :)

But after a good nights sleep, I did some more scenic routing and there is a story there. I'll post pics and updates later. Counting Zions, I rode 15 1/2 hours straight yesterday, finished up the last 5 hours today, but my scenic route made it 8 hours toady.

I had a great time! I love going for a ride.

I'm home, 520 miles today. Ten of them took an hour just north of Ogden, Utah. There were rumors of a 5 car pileup and I-15 was plugged. Wolfman, CJ, Audiogooroo and his Harley riding brother all dropped off at their respective points along the way. I gotta tell ya, my Nomad got 32 mpg on one stretch and that Harley got 52 on the same stretch. They have their points.

Great time in the desert. A little warm for my taste. Coming home from Zion NP was the proverbial blast furnace ride. Actually had sweat blowing around inside my helmet.

My wife is surprised, and I suspect somewhat disappointed, that there are no axe murderers in our group. This was a bunch of awesome people and some really great riders. I am proud to call all of you "friend". Thanks for a great weekend. Idaho.

I replied in the other check-in thread, but I'll humor BD and respond here as well. I can't stand the sight of a grown man pouting.

I made it to Salt Lake City in one piece, accompanied in part by Audiogooroo and his brother, Wolfman and Mrs. Wolfman, and Idaho. I'll be staying here in SLC until Wednesday, then I am riding to Blanding, UT where I will stay overnight and then return to the Phoenix area on Thursday.

I feel badly that I didn't personally get to thank each of you for coming, and wish you well on the ride home, but it seems we were all leaving Mesquite at different times.

A big thank you to those who attended the rally. It was nice to meet you all and see you (and your Nomads) in person. I had a great time, and I sincerely hope everyone else did as well.

Checking in Captains. We left Mesquite @ 7:30am & arrived in Sacramento at 8:15pm. Total round trip 1349 miles.

I would like to thank TRIP for bringing this awesome group of riders together. Thank you to Wolfman & Cactus Jack for taking the responsibility to organize & lead the '08 Western Rally. I rode at the rear of the formation & seeing the parade in front of me was a delight to see.
