Am I watching this forum Circle the Drain? There is so little activity on it I can't imagine that it's going to last much longer.

Too bad really, lots of good stuff to keep these now classic Vulcan running the best they can be. By the time I get my fully modded 1600 on the road it'll be even more "rare".

The forum has been slowly dying for the last few years with some key contributors moving on to other brands and other members giving up motorcycling or passing away. It hasn't helped that Kawasaki has not made a new version of the Voyager or Nomad for 15 years and if they did would the older forum members buy one now their motorcycling years left are in decline.

I know I am not in the market for a new 900 pound bagger with only 5 years or so left to ride. I have already bought my last motorcycle.

I check in time to time. Only takes a minute to catch up. I'm still on the '15 Voyager but I did add a trike kit and rake kit this passed winter. That was fun even though I'm not set up lift wise to build one every day. Yep, the bike was heavy on these replaced knees and shot ankles but unless the bike lays down it will be my last one. Never dropped it but got close a few times when stopped on gravel.

My Voyager went over when I was stationary in a gas station !
I was on the bike and looked behind me to see if my son had finished gassing up his bike and my bike started to lean. I thought no problem I will just stop it going any further.
To my surprise I could not stop it and over it went onto the crash bars in slow motion.
Once they get to a certain degree you are not stopping a 900lb bike going over.
What surprised me was the bike was not off kilter by much before it was at the point of no return and a full tank of gas didn't help matters.

My Voyager went down a lot slower than yours as I was trying my best not to let it go down. I was sat on the bike when it happened.
There was no damage, not even a mark on the crash bars. A guy in a car stopped to help me get the bike upright.

I had a Nomad for 3 years prior to the Voyager and never dropped that.

That is an insult to every person that has tried to help. Quite often a person joins the forum to ask one question and is then never seen again. Those people still get their question answered, if possible.

That's a good possibility. I bought my 2011 vaquero and thought I would never give it up.

But the type of work I did put a lot of hard miles on my body. 5 back surgeries, and one broken arm has slowed me down so much I'm afraid to ride much because of the muscle spasms. The back problems were due to high mileage and hard work. The broken arm was due to the fact I found Kryptonite in my backyard. Can't fly, even from 6 feet up. That was a stupid day. But there is still the possibility I will get past the pinched nerves, but it takes time

I've been to the dealer and they don't stock the cruisers or touring bikes like they used to. Nothing on the floor the last time I was in. Everyone is going for the smaller entry level bikes. They don't stock the bigger scoots now. Economics, the demand is not there now.

Our generation is ageing out and it is going to be some time before there is a possibility that these bikes will come back into style.

Just my 2 cents worth, and what we are seeing in this area.

I agree with all that was discussed here....I bounce thru the site every 3 to 4 days, but I'm usually wrenching on something, but alot of my time lately has been riding.
I'll be here till I croak....

Oh, on laying your bike down, its not IF, but WHEN its gonna go down....
My bikes are lowered, so mine kinda gently roll over like a beached whale....
I put a furniture pad down beside every bike I've ever owned, and laid it down on its side, to check whays gonna hit where, I get backups of whatever can get broken....then I pick the bike up....
Theres several good vids on utube that show you the correct way to pick up your bike by yourself....
Anyway, my 2001 Nomad politely lays over onto crash bars and casually hangs out till I pick her big fat ass up and put her on the kickstand....
I pratice picking her up several times a year so I know when I can't do it anymore.....
