Fun Stuff at NorthCentral Rally 2010
For your general information:
Some of the things going on while at the NorthCentral Rally at Prairie Du Chien is as follows: July 10: Chamber of Commerce Annual Fireworks, At dusk, St. Feriole Island, Prairie du Chien, 608-326-8555. A pork roast will be held on the island prior to the fireworks, proceeds from the roast will go to the Mississippi River Sculpture Park. July 10-11: The War of 1812 Re-enactment, A historic encampment and battle re-enactment on Wisconsin’s only War of 1812 battlefield, now the lawn of the Villa Louis estate. Learn about the British assault on U.S. Fort Shelby in a battle scenario each afternoon. Tour the camps and learn about military life in 1814. Villa Louis Historic Site, St. Feriole Island, Prairie du Chien, admission charged, 608-326-2721 By the way, how do you carry a 6 foot long blackpowder blunderbus on a Nomad? (ans. Very carefully.)

Wow that sounds like a great time, we are very excited about attending the rally. We are planning on leaving Indiana on Wed July 7th. so that we will be able to relax & get the lay of the land. The plan is to arrive in PDC sometime Thursday. Looking forward to meeting other members.

Maybe "Mac Mac" should be there for the reinactment! He could tell us if they are doing right or not. It would be cool if we could catch some of it in between riding around. The Villa Louis mansion is something I think most attending would enjoy a tour through. We have been through it and it is one of the most well-preserved mansions anywhere of that era. There is quite a story behind its history -- worth while going through it. The biggest problem we're going to have is having enough time to see all the things that are going on while getting some riding in! A good problem to have I would say. ;)

Yeah, I just thought I'd throw that sightseeing info up on the screen so folks would have a choice. But riding is the main event.
Hey BlueKaw, I'm going to try and get to Prairie Du Chien a day or two early also. I wanted to check out the area too. Greg has done a bang-up job in mapping out some great rides. See you there! BnG

Trying map out a route that will get us there in the shortest time possible without spending to much time on the superslab. Picking up Garmin this week & looking thru maps. It also depends on if any other member wants to make a connection so that we could ride in some sort of group. If anyone else is interested just let me know so that we can make adjustments on routes & days of leaving. We rode on Sunday about 50* but it felt good to have the hair in the wind.

Man I am so sad that I won't be able to attend this year. I was really looking forward to meeting everyone that wasn't in Custer last year. I hope the river isn't too high by then. I know we are dealing with flooding and popwer outages caused by the flooding already.

The ferry wouldn't take any longer and you would end up coming across Wisconsin at a nice enough area where the scenery begins to improve as you head on across Wisconsin.
