Rock Chip

I picked up a rock chip on my front finder. It is "small" but noticeable.

Any advise on how to "repair" it?

Txs

You can use touch up paint, with a match tip, there are a few places on you tube that will show you how do it. Usually you can get it fairly close so its not too noticeable.
I have a few good stone chips in the fairing and fender. I touched up the first few, now I don't bother anymore.

More than likely you will have to order touch up paint. My Kawasaki dealer doesn't stock any and was told Kawasaki doesn't even have it. I forget which company you order it from. I had their toll free number once upon a time but that was several months ago.

I got a stone chip the first month with the nomad :'( got 4-5 after in the next year.

Don't mind them to much because it gives me an excuse to paint the bike next winter

Time to go steal mama's finger nail polish to avoid rust, and seal out water! Then you can play blend and paint.

I ordered the 3 Colorite pens. Base, top, and clear coats. Cost $48 for all three pens. Touched up the first rock chip with them following directions closely. Looked like crap! Buffed out the touch up and left as is. Now I have at least a dozen and don't worry about them anymore. Will paint the bike in another year or two. I'm looking at Pearl White. Don't see too many of them.

Get your touch up paint, and apply it in thin coats allowing plenty of dry time between coats ( If it's not dry through the paint before the next coat it can mean adhesion problems down the road). Put enough coats on it that you actually form a "bump" instead of an indention. Then lightly wet sand with 1500 grit sand paper and buff.

Seems we've all suffered the "chips of life" on our fenders, fairings and hard bags, etc. I too will be repainting in the next couple of years but haven't decided on a colour scheme yet. One thing for sure, after the new paint job I'll be applying the 3M film on all the hot spots to get some more life out of the paint job......

I found some touch-up paint in a Wal-Mart auto dept. that almost perfectly matched the lighter green on g/g 1999 nomad.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, Bill. It's just part of riding. My brand new paint job already has a few chips, but to me, it just means I ride.
