Hopefully VulcanBill will drop by and add his expertise....as he's done it....
Theses a slight diff. between the 1500 and 1600's, but in my book, not enough to worry about. I've picked up a really nice kinda fat 21" that kinda matches the spoke layout of the cast nomad front wheel....with the writeup of VulcanBill, all should be good. I shall attempt this next year sometime, while I put on the road glide fairing. Yea, will have to make some custom spacers, mill the caliper mounts. I think the Moderators ought to convert Vulcan Bills writeup on adapting the harley front wheel to a sticky!

1st.. make sure you have the proper bearing in the wheel ABS or non ABS
2nd. place the axle bolt through the wheel and center the wheel on the bike 3rd remove calipers off the bike 4th mount wheel using you current axle bolt , use a caliper and measure the spacer width you need once is tad longer than the other due to bearing insert on the wheel I had a set of stock ones and had them cut to fit. ( take you're time to be very accurate here ) 5. remove brake pads from calipers ,,inspect ..clean and replace with new ones if necessary at that point.. bleed brake and replace fluid if u wish,, I did it 6. place one caliper mount on the rotor and you can gauge how much filing needs to be done of the caliper mounts approx 1/16" to 1/8" with a hand file. 7. Make sure wheel spin freely that no brake pads comes in contact till you apply brake lever. 8. Once done road test to make sure brakes work properly and than the bike is not pulling left or right. 9. Now you can put any HD you want since you have proper width done 10. Tkx to VulcanBill I did it and I found that the narrower rubber handle much better in curves. The key is to take you're time doing it

Well, theres a certain amount of mal-alignment that can be tolerated. Being careful, if you have a height gauge with a indicator, yes, you could do it. Milling would be better. But yes, theres not a whole lot that needs doing to adapt it over....

BTW, will this work with a cable spedo? I am guessing as long as I machine the spacer with the spedo drive directly I should be OK.???

Saw this 1500 Nomad up for sale on Facebook. Believe the guy had to add shims to the axle.

Milling the caliper pads....to get the caliper alignment correct....
