#@$%@@!! Lightning!!!

Wednesday evening around 9pm lightning struck 75 feet from my house.
It took out... ready for this... 2 computers, 2 garage doors, 4 TV's. my alarm system, 3 control panels, the 8 channel cameras system, satellite system, telephone and internet system, various light bulbs, 2 brand new DVD players, and my friggin patience!!

I still have my lap top and I got the phone system and satellite fixed / replaced yesterday.

Well... at least I can still play the piano........ <G>

I got hit about 12 years ago. Same thing, hit in the back yard. Unfortunately I was closing the jalousie windows on our florida room at the time. I was like I touched a 240 outlet. I was in the dark and my wife said I had an aura around me. Since then I am scared sh!tless when I am riding and there is lightning.

Wompus, did you have anything on surge protectors? Doesn't sound like it, and for my part I have them on anything I don't want that to happen to... cheap insurance Can't say they have helped except to say we get some pretty good lightning, some pretty strong storns here regularly and I haven't hand any problems. For the price of your deductable you could probably add whole house protection to your place. Sorry to hear of your losses!

Sure did! But they got fried too!!
I ordered 4 that are supposed to be bullet proof and guaranteed not to fail.
Kinda expensive, but ya gotta do what it takes....

#@$%@@!! Lightning!!!

I was struck by lightning in 94. Actually it hit the steel whip antenna on my truck. It blew all of the trucks electronic sensors. Truck was down 2 weeks while they searched and replaced every one. It also took out a radar and a laser detector, my CB, leaner and modulator, and I recieved a concussion. I had on a large ring, making contact with a metal part of the steering wheel, it cooked the skin where the ring was. Kinda like a blister one gets when the heel of the shoes rubs, and you peel the skin off. It took several months for that to go away, didn't hurt, just didn't want to clear up. I lost everything, just lucky I didn't get hit directly. Lightning is nothing to be laughed at, and if you don't already have the fear of GOD in you, it will put it in you!
