Grasshopper backrests are designed by a member and tend to be very popular on this forum.

The Utopia does mount on the rear seat, but, it's on the very front. It should not interfere at all with anyone riding on the back. I had the Utopia up until about a month ago. It was the best backrest as far as I'm concerned and it did not interfere with my wife on the back. The only reason I sold it was because I've got a Russell Day Long with their backrest on order.

I got the grasshopper backrest for my Mustang seat, it has the studs to match. Seems very solid and I'll be using it this year once my bike is on the road. I think it will do fine. It may push you a bit forward if your tall, but for some it helps when you don't have pull back risers and are vertically challenged.
Very reasonable and if you buy it and don't like it not a lot of coin, and you will find many members who would take it off your hands if you did upgrade or decide it's not for you. One of the few products you can't lose on. And the owners are more then willing to work with you to make you happy.!!!! Worth a try IMO.... Scott

I recently got a Utopia backrest and like Bob said, it mounts at the very front of the pillion so there shouldn't be an issue with the passenger. They are very adjustable and comfortable. The only thing I didn't like about it was the thought of having to cut my seat! However, I read the instructions, listened to what folks on this forum had to say and then watched a few youtube videos to get the courage up to doing it. I installed it in about 30 minutes and it was a walk in the park.

Highly recommend the Grasshopper as well. Installation is a breeze, and after the bracket is installed, you can take it off and on with just a simple pull.

Bought the Grasshopper. The place they sell it is less then a hour from me. He told me if it didn't fit me right to ride down and he would custom fit it for me. Now thats service.
